It’s now official. December. I feel that it’s now permissible to start getting in the spirit of Christmas. November belongs to Thanksgiving. December belongs to Christmas!
A word of caution, though: don’t go to Costco on weekends in December. We went there today (not to do any shopping, but to return something) and, well, can you say “Nuthouse!????!!!” Talk about a ZOO!!!! I wonder how much the average revenue is per Costco store on a December Saturday. It’s got to be immense…my guess is that it’s well into the six-figures if not more, depending on the weekend.
Anyway, I’m starting to get in the spirit. I shot some pictures today of some decorations at my sister’s place and I’ll share some of them over the next couple of weeks. I’ll probably be shooting more, too.
So, today you get the first one. She has Christmas tree ornaments that are about the 12 Days of Christmas. Not sure she has all 12 of them still, but they are pretty and make for interesting subjects. So, as a hat tip to the season, we’ll start out December with a picture of ornaments on her tree.
I hope that you find the true spirit of Christmas this month and that you have a safe, happy and joy-filled December as we remember why we have this holiday in the first place.
ON THIS DAY IN HISTORY: in 1942, the world’s first nuclear chain reaction took place at the University of Chicago under the direction of Enrico Fermi.
TRIVIA FOR TODAY: why are “hamburgers” called “hamburgers” when there is no ham in them, but beef? Because they originated in Hamburg, Germany.
