At what age do kids really learn that they can make adults laugh? I don’t know. Probably it is very young…because they see mom and dad’s heads over the edge of the crib and when the baby makes a funny face, mom and dad laugh.
That’s one way, but when they start playing games with you, that takes it to an entirely different level. Take today’s picture, for example. This is a picture of my daughter-in-law (left) with our youngest granddaughter in her arms, their au-pair (Yao, from China) and our 3-year old granddaughter. Here’s what you need to notice: the look on the youngest face…she’s sticking out her tongue to make everyone crack up. If you look at her big sister (on the right) you can see it’s working!!!
Now, lest you think that my littlest is just silly, she’s also smart. She’s about 11 months old, and on Sunday afternoon, she dirtied her diaper, walked over to where the clean Pampers are kept, picked one up, walked to her daddy, handed it to him then she went and laid herself down on the changing pad that was on the floor! She knew what she wanted and what she was doing!!!! Not bad for an 11-month old. Of course, it should be no surprise to those of you who know me…after all, she does have my genes, too!!!
ON THIS DAY IN HISTORY: in 55 B.C., ten thousand Roman soldiers from the 7th and 10th legions, under the command of Julius Caesar, landed at Deal in England.
TRIVIA FOR TODAY: when a shrimp is first born, it is male. As it matures, it becomes female.
