Floating Heads

Do you remember those old Norelco electric shaver commercials that touted their “floating heads”?  Never worked for me.

Now, all you have to do is to turn on the TV at almost any time during the day or night and you can see “talking heads” – people who are making statements about something whether or not they have any expertise or knowledge of the subject matter.  It really gets me when movie stars testify before a congressional sub-committee about a topic like global warming, nuclear proliferation or some other very complex subject.  What makes them an expert?  Nothing!

Well, today’s picture isn’t a talking head, but a floating head.  Well, that’s that really true, either.  It just looks like it is floating because it is being supported by something behind the head…you just can’t see it in this picture.

Imagine waking up at night and seeing this head come floating through the room toward your bed.  It would be enough to get you jump started pretty quickly!

ON THIS DAY IN HISTORY: in 1884, the cornerstone of the Statue of Liberty was laid on Bedloe’s Island in New York harbor.

TRIVIA FOR TODAY: candy that was made from barrel cactus was outlawed in 1952 in order to protect the species.
