That’s Kinda Squirrely

I find various human expressions fascinating.  Some are regional, some seem to be almost universal.  Some are humorous and others are very serious.

Take for example the title of today’s blog post: “That’s kinda squirrely.”  Where does it come from and what does it mean?  Well, I don’t know.  But here would be my guess: squirrels love nuts.  They scout them out, gather them up, collect them.  The life of a squirrel seems to be all about nuts.  And so, the saying, “That’s kinda squirrely” is probably akin to saying, “That’s nuts!”  At least that’s my theory and I’m stickin’ with it.

What do you think?

This fellow posed for me at the river park near where we live by the Chattahoochee River in Norcross.  Oh, by the way, I do have a friend whose nickname is “Squirrel.”

ON THIS DAY IN HISTORY: in 1928, for the very first time ever, the famous lion of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer roared for the first time as he introduced the movie, “White Shadows on the South Seas.”

TRIVIA FOR TODAY: the eyes work harder to focus on this close to them.  That’s why we get eye-strain from monitors.  It has absolutely nothing to do with “radiation” from the monitor.
